2009 started off with the intimate wedding of Lisa and John. And what a beautiful winter day they had for their wedding! The sky was so blue and we definitely took advantage of that. 
But we’ll get to that in a minute. Lindsey and I met up with everyone at Slate Hill Mennonite Church where the ceremony was going to take place. The girls were getting ready upstairs while the guys were hanging out downstairs. We spent time with both groups before the ceremony, getting to know them all a little bit better. After the ceremony, everyone headed to the Civic Club for the cocktail hour and reception. The Civic Club is one of our favorite places to shoot at, especially in the winter. The sun streaming in the windows is just awesome and so welcoming. Although it was cold, Lisa and John were up for a little bit of portrait time before they were announced. Once upstairs, the reception was an elegant dinner affair complete with a string trio and pianist (who was AMAZING).

(And just a little note about a series of pics in the slideshow. Lisa was borrowing her vintage necklace and earrings from a jeweler. After she had put on the necklace, one of the bridesmaids gave her a note from John, saying that he had bought the necklace for her. We capture her reaction.)
