Colleen and Richie – 09.27.09

I have never been more humbled to capture a wedding for someone than I was for Colleen and Richie. It all started last Thursday when Colleen emailed to see if we could change our plans for the day a little bit. Colleen’s mom was in the hospital and had been so for quite some time. They had thought that she may have been released before the wedding but unfortunately that was not to be. So Colleen arranged with her officiant to perform the ceremony at the hospital before conducting the previously scheduled ceremony at the Civic Club. So we arrived at the Civic Club where Colleen and her girls were getting ready. Colleen looked SO beautiful even before her make-up was on. Once she was dressed, we arranged for her to meet Richie on the porch of the Civic Club for their first glance. After a quick moment or two, we were all off to Holy Spirit to see Colleen’s mom. When we arrived, Colleen couldn’t wait to go upstairs and see her mom. The moments that we captured during that time were like no other that I’ve ever experience before on a wedding day. Then it was time for everyone to come up for the ceremony. The ceremony couldn’t happen in the hospital room due to restrictions so it happened in the hallway. After the emotional ceremony, we traveled back to the Civic Club for the second ceremony and reception. Colleen and Richie had planned a Starbucks/travel-themed wedding and it was SO awesome.

We were so completely honored to have been part of this day.

Johni and Steve – 07.10.09

This past Friday, Lindsey and I got to go to one of our favorite venues, The Civic Club of Harrisburg, for the wedding and reception of Johni and Steve. And when we arrived, we were floored by all of the details. Johni had thought of everything and it was all pulled together so nicely. There were fans for guests. Takeout boxes and a candy bar. A wedding cake and 5 additional cakes. Two dresses and two pairs of shoes. And flowers everywhere. I cannot say enough good things about Dan from Blue Heron It was just beautiful. We had a great time, even with some rambunctious groomsmen ;) . Thanks to Johni and Steve and their families for having us.

Lisa and John – 01.03.09

2009 started off with the intimate wedding of Lisa and John. And what a beautiful winter day they had for their wedding! The sky was so blue and we definitely took advantage of that. :) But we’ll get to that in a minute. Lindsey and I met up with everyone at Slate Hill Mennonite Church where the ceremony was going to take place. The girls were getting ready upstairs while the guys were hanging out downstairs. We spent time with both groups before the ceremony, getting to know them all a little bit better. After the ceremony, everyone headed to the Civic Club for the cocktail hour and reception. The Civic Club is one of our favorite places to shoot at, especially in the winter. The sun streaming in the windows is just awesome and so welcoming. Although it was cold, Lisa and John were up for a little bit of portrait time before they were announced. Once upstairs, the reception was an elegant dinner affair complete with a string trio and pianist (who was AMAZING).

Below are our favs from the day. As always, CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE SLIDESHOW.

(And just a little note about a series of pics in the slideshow. Lisa was borrowing her vintage necklace and earrings from a jeweler. After she had put on the necklace, one of the bridesmaids gave her a note from John, saying that he had bought the necklace for her. We capture her reaction.)

Lisa – Bridal Session

Now that her wedding has passed, we can share these wonderful images from Lisa’ bridal session. Since it was a tad chilly out the day we had her session scheduled, Jill from the Civic Club was gracious enough to let us use the space there. And we totally lucked out that it was cloudy because if you’ve ever been to the Civic Club you know that the sun can stream through those awesome windows.

Stay tuned for images from Lisa and John’s wedding.

Allison and Ryan – 11.01.08

So last Saturday, our own Allison got married!!! Lindsey and I were so excited to capture her day for her and Ryan. Allison wanted an outdoor ceremony and she put all her money on the fact that she would have a nice day in November at the Civic Club. She totally lucked out!!! Saturday was warm for November and that just put everyone in a great mood. Allison said it was weird being on the other side of the camera but she got used to it pretty quickly. We spent some time with the girls while they were getting ready before the ceremony began downstairs. Lindsey and I were amazed that there were monarch butterflies flitting about in the garden during their ceremony. After some creative portraits, it was back upstairs for the reception, where Allison and Ryan had both a traditional wedding cake and cannoli, their fav. Ryan actually proposed with the ring in a cannoli.

Some choice pics are below but the real deal is HERE in the slideshow.

One of my favorite cakes ever. Loved the colors.
