Cricket and Patrick – 07.23.11

Where has this summer gone?!?!? I can’t believe it’s August already and the kids go back to school this month. (Of course, if you know me at all, you know that summer is my least favorite season so I’m kind of glad for it’s quick passing). I’m a little behind in blogging so bear with me as I attempt to catch up over the next week or so. And we’ve got a great announcement coming soon too!

Back on the 23rd of July, we had the pleasure of being welcomed again to Allenberry by the wonderful Heinze family. If you are a loyal KP fan, you may remember Jackie and Kyle’s wedding from 2008. Cricket is Jackie’s sister and we couldn’t have been more happy when she asked us to photograph her wedding too. We’ve done a lot of weddings at Allenberry but it’s never like doing a wedding at Allenberry when one of their OWN gets married. There are always hugs, tears, and cocktails…those you can be sure of! But it’s always the vows and speeches that get to me. Never is love more evident than in the words expressed by this family.

Alright, enough gushing. On to the images….

I loved that I could create an almost identical shot for Cricket that I did for her sister.

Cricket’s wonderful Kate Spade shoes were in honor of Penn State. ;)

Cricket and Patrick decided on a First Glance so we could do family pictures before the wedding.

Meet George, Jackie and Kyle’s son. He is so cute!

I love Cricket’s dad. Simply love him. And I love some of the shots that we got of him. This is him revising his toast in the parlor. I told him he looked like Santa going over his list. ;)

And another…watching over the ceremony prep from the porch.

Patrick and his best man/brother had a fantastic entrance to the ceremony…by canoe!!

I forgot to mention how insanely HOT it was this day. I mean HOT!

The ring bearers were too cute.

Married!

Some details from the day.

Once everyone moved into the nice cool Terrace for the reception, it was time for the toasts and speeches.

:)

Cricket and Patrick’s first dance…

It was an absolute honor to be asked to capture another wedding for the Heinze family. I’m just sad that this is the last of the cousins to be married. Maybe somebody can renew their vows. ;)

Nicole and Jón – 05.22.11

We had such a fantastic time at Nicole and Jón’s wedding this past Sunday. The weather was threatening to rain on their outdoor ceremony but thankfully it held off. When we got to Allenberry, the sun actually came out for a bit! We enjoyed our time hanging out with the girls and guys before the ceremony. I love watching bride’s get transformed on their wedding day! The creekside ceremony was beautiful. There were so many personal touches throughout the day that stole my heart. Nicole and her dad arrived by horse and carriage. Nicole and Jón broke a pretzel during their ceremony then gave guests heart shaped pretzels as favors. There were 1001 origami cranes displayed at the reception. Oh and Nicole made her own wedding cake!!!

We had so much fun and it was awesome to get this email from Nicole this week:

Cyndi,
I just wanted to send a quick THANK YOU to you and Andy for all that you did on Sunday! I knew from the moment we met that it was going to be a fun day, but WOW! We had a Blast! Jon and I are really excited to see how all of the pictures turn out! The 2 of you just made us (and our families) feel so comfortable and relaxed it was like we were just hanging out and maybe having a few photos taken. Both of our families have been going on and on about the same things, that the two of you were very comfortable to work with, had a great eye for different photos and just genuinely nice people. :)
I can not thank you enough! I also wanted to thank you for signing out “Guest Book” Picture, you are one of the reasons that our Wedding Day was so special and I am glad that we will have that as a memory.

Thank You Again! and we’ll be seeing you soon!
Nicole

The wonderful Gia Glinatsis working her magic.

Who ever said bathrooms aren’t pretty?

I loved Nicole’s whole look. It was just perfect.

Jón didn’t look bad either. ;)

Arriving by carriage.

The details.

The speeches were emotional.

Kim and Dan – 11.14.09

Wow! Where has the last month gone? This holiday season has had us in overdrive here in the studio and unfortunately, blogging has had to take a backseat. But, we are almost caught up with all of the holiday orders so its time to get back on track.

About a month ago, we captured the wedding of Kim and Dan. It was a beautiful day, spent with two of the most genuine people I’ve ever met.

Kim’s father was one of the officiants. I love this shot of him peeking in on the getting ready.

Erin and Karl – 08.15.09

This past Saturday took us back to Allenberry Playhouse for the wedding of Erin and Karl. Everything was happening there so we covered pretty much the entire property throughout the day. And what a hot one it was!! We spent some time with the guys and girls separately for getting ready then it was time for the creekside ceremony. And what a beautiful ceremony it was. It may have been one of my favorites ever! (One of Erin’s bridesmaid’s read the most amazing poem that I’ve included at the bottom of this post.) After some quick family portraits, we walked around Allenberry with Erin and Karl. We visited some favorite places and also discovered some new spots. Then it was inside for the COOL reception.

It was hard to choose favorites but here they are below. And as always, CLICK HERE for the slideshow.

As promised, here’s the poem:

The Invitation by Oriah Mountain Dreamer

It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for
and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing.

It doesn’t interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool
for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn’t interest me what planets are squaring your moon…
I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow
if you have been opened by life’s betrayals
or have become shrivelled and closed
from fear of further pain.

I want to know if you can sit with pain
mine or your own
without moving to hide it
or fade it
or fix it.

I want to know if you can be with joy
mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness
and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us
to be careful
to be realistic
to remember the limitations of being human.

It doesn’t interest me if the story you are telling me
is true.
I want to know if you can
disappoint another
to be true to yourself.
If you can bear the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.
If you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.

I want to know if you can see Beauty
even when it is not pretty
every day.
And if you can source your own life
from its presence.

I want to know if you can live with failure
yours and mine
and still stand at the edge of the lake
and shout to the silver of the full moon,
“Yes.”

It doesn’t interest me
to know where you live or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up
after the night of grief and despair
weary and bruised to the bone
and do what needs to be done
to feed the children.

It doesn’t interest me who you know
or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand
in the centre of the fire
with me
and not shrink back.

It doesn’t interest me where or what or with whom
you have studied.
I want to know what sustains you
from the inside
when all else falls away.

I want to know if you can be alone
with yourself
and if you truly like the company you keep
in the empty moments.

Amaya and Chris – 07.25.09

“Barefoot Optional”. That pretty much sums up the casual theme of Amaya and Chris’ wedding at Allenberry Playhouse. I’m loving how much our recent weddings have been a reflection of the couple and their personalities. Amaya’s dress was custom made by Designs by Nicole in Olney, MD because she couldn’t find anything that she really liked. Her girls all wore different dresses in shades of hunter green. And the barefoot optional things was in full effect!!

We arrived for our normal getting ready coverage. The guys (and a few gals) decided to play some frisbee after they were dressed which made for some cool shots. I had fun with Amaya in the Mansion House and we got some great images. Then it was time for the creekside ceremony. I LOVE the creekside setting at Allenberry for a wedding. I love it even better when it doesn’t rain, which is exactly what it did for the entire ceremony. But Amaya and Chris’ guests were troopers. Not ONE of them got up out of their seats to move under the trees. Our original plan for a group shot of all the guests had to be switched a little. So instead of all of the guests standing in the rain for the picture, I did! After formal family pictures on the porch, we walked around a bit with just Amaya and Chris. Then it was inside for the reception. Chris’ best man was the “DJ” and he did a great job in keeping the dance floor going.
