Beth and Brooks – 08.21.10

What a fun evening! We had such a great time hanging out with Beth and Brooks for their wedding that it hardly seemed like work at all. They did things THEIR way for their special day and I think that made it all the more special.

The girls getting ready. They are all so cute together.

The first LOOK-SEE. :)

Loved this look.

Lauren and Brian – 06.12.10

Saturday’s wedding with Lauren and Brian had it all. Tears. Special moments. A vintage car. And, yes, a DOWNPOUR! The story of us doing our portraits downtown and the approaching rainstorm will go down as one of my favorites. These two were absolutely awesome as we hurried to beat the rain. Here are our favs from the day:

Rayni and Matt – 05.08.10

When I met up with Rayni and Matt for their engagement session, I knew that we would be in for a good time at their wedding. And Andy and I were NOT disappointed. I headed to the Hilton in Harrisburg where the girls were getting ready while Andy headed to Matt and Rayni’s house to meet the guys. While Gia and Jess were working their magic on the girls, the guys made a stop at Ft. Indiantown Gap Cemetary so Matt could leave flowers at his father’s grave. We all met back up at the ceremony at St. Patrick’s Cathedral which was beautiful. And you might remember that Saturday was WINDY!!! Well Rayni and Matt were up for ANYTHING. We literally ended up in a wind tunnel in one of the alleys off State Street and I thought that Rayni was going to be knocked over. After we were done with portraits, we headed into the Hilton for the reception.

These images that Andy captured at the cemetary with Matt move me beyond words.

This was right after I told Rayni that she looked like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. :)

Some detail shots:

Told ya it was WINDY!!

LOVE this one!

This was such a special moment. Rayni’s father had passed away so instead of a father-daughter dance, she invited everyone on the dance floor to celebrate her dad’s memory. They danced to the song “Desperado” by The Eagles. I had to track down a tissue.

Colleen and Richie – 09.27.09

I have never been more humbled to capture a wedding for someone than I was for Colleen and Richie. It all started last Thursday when Colleen emailed to see if we could change our plans for the day a little bit. Colleen’s mom was in the hospital and had been so for quite some time. They had thought that she may have been released before the wedding but unfortunately that was not to be. So Colleen arranged with her officiant to perform the ceremony at the hospital before conducting the previously scheduled ceremony at the Civic Club. So we arrived at the Civic Club where Colleen and her girls were getting ready. Colleen looked SO beautiful even before her make-up was on. Once she was dressed, we arranged for her to meet Richie on the porch of the Civic Club for their first glance. After a quick moment or two, we were all off to Holy Spirit to see Colleen’s mom. When we arrived, Colleen couldn’t wait to go upstairs and see her mom. The moments that we captured during that time were like no other that I’ve ever experience before on a wedding day. Then it was time for everyone to come up for the ceremony. The ceremony couldn’t happen in the hospital room due to restrictions so it happened in the hallway. After the emotional ceremony, we traveled back to the Civic Club for the second ceremony and reception. Colleen and Richie had planned a Starbucks/travel-themed wedding and it was SO awesome.

We were so completely honored to have been part of this day.

Jana and Justin – 09.05.09

I will tell you what I told Justin on the day of his wedding: I’ve never had a bride quite like Jana. (He jokingly said neither have I, which I thought was really cute.) But seriously, Jana has to be one of the most unique people I’ve ever met. We arrived late morning at the Milestone Inn, where both the guys and girls were getting ready. The guys had some fun playing pool and drinking some beverages :) before heading to the church. Jana and the girls were styled by the fabulous girls from Moxie. Then it was time for Jana to put on her dress. It was just stunning! The bridesmaids took the shuttle to the church but Jana and her dad drove over separately. Apparently, he wanted some “Daddy Time” before the ceremony. The ceremony was held at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Harrisburg. And while it wasn’t extremely hot, the church doesn’t have air conditioning. Jana got a little hot during the receiving line which is why I had to put the picture of her in front of the fan in the slideshow. After we did some quick family portraits in the church, things got interesting. (And this is where I truly wish I would have had a video camera.) Jana wanted to do some urban shots AND she just wanted to walk. So off we went marching down 3rd Street, all 20 or so of us! We cut up Emerald, passed a block party, and turned onto 2nd Street and headed towards the Milestone. We were only about 3 blocks away when the shuttle picked us up. We totally could have made it! When we arrived back at the Milestone, it was time for everyone to cool off. And of course, Jana had planned the reception to be a “do as you please” event. You could eat when you wanted to, watch movies, smoke cigars, have your picture taken in the photo booth, etc. It was really a unique reception!

Erin and Brian – 01.24.09

Last Saturday, Lindsey and I captured the wedding of Erin and Brian in Harrisburg. It was a beautiful winter day for a wedding, a little chilly but no snow. We started the day hanging out with Erin and her girls at her parent’s house. (BTW – We hope the defragging was successful. :) That’s for those who were hanging out in the kitchen.) Erin’s dress was beautiful but her veil was even more beautiful. Both were Pronovias and were stunning. The ceremony was held at St. Lawrence Cathedral in Harrisburg. Erin was a little emotional during the ceremony which made for some great moments. After the ceremony, the bridal party hopped in to the limo and drove around to the back side of the Capitol, where Erin’s mom had secured us entry. We did just a few pictures in the main Rotunda but quickly became the center of attention so we retreated to the rotunda on the back side which is my new favorite spot in the Capitol. After we finished with portraits, it was back in the limo for the short ride to the Zembo Mosque. I have never been to a wedding at the Zembo so I was interested to see what it was all about. It did not disappoint. The reception was held in the Tile Room which is completed lined with these intricate tiles. The cocktail hour was held in a grand lobby just off the Tile Room. After the obligatory speeches and dinner, the real party began and what fun they all had.

Thank you, Erin and Brian, for having us.

Lisa and John – 01.03.09

2009 started off with the intimate wedding of Lisa and John. And what a beautiful winter day they had for their wedding! The sky was so blue and we definitely took advantage of that. :) But we’ll get to that in a minute. Lindsey and I met up with everyone at Slate Hill Mennonite Church where the ceremony was going to take place. The girls were getting ready upstairs while the guys were hanging out downstairs. We spent time with both groups before the ceremony, getting to know them all a little bit better. After the ceremony, everyone headed to the Civic Club for the cocktail hour and reception. The Civic Club is one of our favorite places to shoot at, especially in the winter. The sun streaming in the windows is just awesome and so welcoming. Although it was cold, Lisa and John were up for a little bit of portrait time before they were announced. Once upstairs, the reception was an elegant dinner affair complete with a string trio and pianist (who was AMAZING).

Below are our favs from the day. As always, CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE SLIDESHOW.

(And just a little note about a series of pics in the slideshow. Lisa was borrowing her vintage necklace and earrings from a jeweler. After she had put on the necklace, one of the bridesmaids gave her a note from John, saying that he had bought the necklace for her. We capture her reaction.)
