Jana and Justin – 09.05.09

I will tell you what I told Justin on the day of his wedding: I’ve never had a bride quite like Jana. (He jokingly said neither have I, which I thought was really cute.) But seriously, Jana has to be one of the most unique people I’ve ever met. We arrived late morning at the Milestone Inn, where both the guys and girls were getting ready. The guys had some fun playing pool and drinking some beverages :) before heading to the church. Jana and the girls were styled by the fabulous girls from Moxie. Then it was time for Jana to put on her dress. It was just stunning! The bridesmaids took the shuttle to the church but Jana and her dad drove over separately. Apparently, he wanted some “Daddy Time” before the ceremony. The ceremony was held at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Harrisburg. And while it wasn’t extremely hot, the church doesn’t have air conditioning. Jana got a little hot during the receiving line which is why I had to put the picture of her in front of the fan in the slideshow. After we did some quick family portraits in the church, things got interesting. (And this is where I truly wish I would have had a video camera.) Jana wanted to do some urban shots AND she just wanted to walk. So off we went marching down 3rd Street, all 20 or so of us! We cut up Emerald, passed a block party, and turned onto 2nd Street and headed towards the Milestone. We were only about 3 blocks away when the shuttle picked us up. We totally could have made it! When we arrived back at the Milestone, it was time for everyone to cool off. And of course, Jana had planned the reception to be a “do as you please” event. You could eat when you wanted to, watch movies, smoke cigars, have your picture taken in the photo booth, etc. It was really a unique reception!

Garden Update #2 – in honor of Earth Day

A lot of you have been emailing about the progress of our garden. I’ve also been hounded by my husband to give you all an update too. :) So since we last blogged about it, we’ve made a lot of progress. Many different cold weather loving plants have gone into the ground. Some are doing OK and some aren’t. But it’s all a learning process, right? The biggest project has been the installation of the 6 foot tall split-rail fence. Actually that’s the first stage of the fence project. We are now working on the putting a secondary metal fence on the split rail to keep all of the critters out. (We have deer, foxes, groundhogs, rabbits and whatever else comes out of the woods.) We’re hoping to have the fence and gate completed this weekend. We’ve also installed a rain barrel and built a compost bin out of old wood that we had in the garage.

I took some pics recently to show you all our progress.

Nicole and Erick – 10.25.08

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of photographing Nicole and Erick’s wedding. It was, of course, POURING the entire day but Nicole did not let that damper her spirits. She just has the most awesome personality. There were times when she was trying to cheer up others who were bummed by the rain. We had a great time with Nicole and Erick’s families and friends all day.

Melissa and Brian – 09.13.08

Last Saturday was a double header for Klose Photography. Lindsey will be along soon with the blog post of her wedding. I had the privilege of capturing the day for Melissa and Brian with the help of my friend Erik Matey. We split the first part of the day with Erik hanging out with the guys while I stayed with the girls. And what a group of girls they are!! :) (It was good seeing Jessica and Kellan again. Jess was one of Melissa’s bridesmaids.) Anyhow, after all of the fun we had getting ready, it was time for the short trolley ride down to State Street for the ceremony at the amazing St. Lawrence Cathedral. Melissa and Brian’s clergy from their home churches conducted the ceremony and it was beautiful. After the ceremony, we formulated a plan for our portrait time. We were hoping that the showers that were threatening all day held off until after pictures. Lucky for us they did! We started with the bridal party along Riverfront then spent some time with just Melissa and Brian before boarding the trolley. Back to the Milestone we went for the Cocktail Hour/Penn State Viewing Party. :) Melissa and her Mom put so much thought into every little detail and it totally showed: from the flowers, to the candy bar, to the table names. My favorite detail were the sunflowers!!! DJ Mark Hoover kept the dance floor packed (and me laughing :) ) all night. The night ended with SPARKLERS surrounding Melissa and Brian and what a way to end the night.

Thank you Melissa and Brian for such an awesome day. I hope you enjoyed your after-party at Molly Brannigans!!

Adam and Chelsea – ENGAGED!!!!!!!

OK – I can’t wait to post this any longer. I’ve been so excited about this session for over a month. (Don’t worry. There will be a new post every day this week). Adam had contacted me regarding his plan to propose to his girlfriend, Chelsea, while on vacation at the beach and he wanted to have it captured by me. After my initial gushing over how romantic this whole idea was, we hatched a plan to have Adam “surprise” Chelsea with a portrait session which of course would eventually end in the proposal. Also helping Adam with the surprise was his family, especially his dad who secretly set up a picnic on the beach while we walked in the other direction.

So on Thursday I drove to Lewes, DE to meet Adam and Chelsea for their session. I’m not sure if Adam was nervous or not but he definitely didn’t let it show. These two are so completely in love with each other that capturing them was easy. We walked on the beach towards the lighthouse then turned around and walked back to about where we had started. The picnic was all set, complete with music and champagne. After they shared some food, it was time and Adam did not disappoint. But rather than have me explain, let’s let the images speak for themselves in my first ever blog slideshow. ;)

We found this shell and thought it looked like a heart.

The exquisite ring.

Kade – 6 months

For our monthly visit with Kade, we went with the Patriotic theme mixed with a little kittie loving. Kade’s parents rescued THE MOST ADORABLE little kittens, names Blanco and Shadow. Shadow LOVES Kade, even crawling up on his lap during our session. Oh and Kade has 2 teeth! He’s getting so big.

This is Shadow. I so wanted to take him home!

And Blanco, who has a little bit more of an attitude than Shadow.

DISCLAIMER: No kittens were harmed in the making of this photograph. Apparently, Shadow lets Kade do ANYTHING to him and he just doesn’t care.

Our little man…

TEETH!!

Like I said, we got a little Patriotic.

Then back inside for a couple more shots.

Happy 4th of July!!!!

And what better way to celebrate Independence Day than with this little firecracker. ;)

More to come from Kade’s 6 month session next week. For now, ENJOY the weekend!

Random Image

I covered a sales meeting for a company this week and this was a random image that caught my eye.

Lacey

This week I met up with Lacey and her mom for some images for a Father’s Day present. We had to dodge some raindrops but had fun doing it.
