Erin and Brian – 01.24.09

Last Saturday, Lindsey and I captured the wedding of Erin and Brian in Harrisburg. It was a beautiful winter day for a wedding, a little chilly but no snow. We started the day hanging out with Erin and her girls at her parent’s house. (BTW – We hope the defragging was successful. :) That’s for those who were hanging out in the kitchen.) Erin’s dress was beautiful but her veil was even more beautiful. Both were Pronovias and were stunning. The ceremony was held at St. Lawrence Cathedral in Harrisburg. Erin was a little emotional during the ceremony which made for some great moments. After the ceremony, the bridal party hopped in to the limo and drove around to the back side of the Capitol, where Erin’s mom had secured us entry. We did just a few pictures in the main Rotunda but quickly became the center of attention so we retreated to the rotunda on the back side which is my new favorite spot in the Capitol. After we finished with portraits, it was back in the limo for the short ride to the Zembo Mosque. I have never been to a wedding at the Zembo so I was interested to see what it was all about. It did not disappoint. The reception was held in the Tile Room which is completed lined with these intricate tiles. The cocktail hour was held in a grand lobby just off the Tile Room. After the obligatory speeches and dinner, the real party began and what fun they all had.

Thank you, Erin and Brian, for having us.

Sneak Peek – Erin & Brian – 01.24.09

Something new we are going to start doing. We are going to blog ONE image from every wedding on the day that wedding occurs. There’s not going to be any rhyme or reason about what type of image you will see. We’ll probably choose the one that we were excited about seeing “in camera”.

So first up…the lovely Erin from today’s wedding. Totally lit by the window in her mom’s bedroom. I could have shot in that one spot all day. It was awesome.

Lisa and John – 01.03.09

2009 started off with the intimate wedding of Lisa and John. And what a beautiful winter day they had for their wedding! The sky was so blue and we definitely took advantage of that. :) But we’ll get to that in a minute. Lindsey and I met up with everyone at Slate Hill Mennonite Church where the ceremony was going to take place. The girls were getting ready upstairs while the guys were hanging out downstairs. We spent time with both groups before the ceremony, getting to know them all a little bit better. After the ceremony, everyone headed to the Civic Club for the cocktail hour and reception. The Civic Club is one of our favorite places to shoot at, especially in the winter. The sun streaming in the windows is just awesome and so welcoming. Although it was cold, Lisa and John were up for a little bit of portrait time before they were announced. Once upstairs, the reception was an elegant dinner affair complete with a string trio and pianist (who was AMAZING).

(And just a little note about a series of pics in the slideshow. Lisa was borrowing her vintage necklace and earrings from a jeweler. After she had put on the necklace, one of the bridesmaids gave her a note from John, saying that he had bought the necklace for her. We capture her reaction.)

Lauren and Matt – 12.27.08

Well it finally happened. I missed a wedding. In the early morning hours of Lauren and Matt’s wedding day, I came down with the dreaded stomach virus. It was awful. So Lindsey and Andy stepped in for me and captured Lauren and Matt’s day. And I have to say, they did a BEAUTIFUL job. Thank you so much guys. I’m glad neither of you got sick either. And thank you to Lauren and Matt for rolling with the punches!!

Lisa – Bridal Session

Now that her wedding has passed, we can share these wonderful images from Lisa’ bridal session. Since it was a tad chilly out the day we had her session scheduled, Jill from the Civic Club was gracious enough to let us use the space there. And we totally lucked out that it was cloudy because if you’ve ever been to the Civic Club you know that the sun can stream through those awesome windows.

Stay tuned for images from Lisa and John’s wedding.

Holly and Chris – 12.20.08

The weekend before Christmas, we had the honor of capturing the wedding of Holly and Chris, one of my favorite couples from 2008. It’s funny how much our paths have crossed since they booked us. I had a great time shooting their engagement session at St. Joseph University over the summer and getting to know them a little better. Holly is so full of life and Chris is a little bit more on the quiet side but they fit PERFECTLY together. Then I ran into them again at the wedding of their friends Ashley and Tom.

Anyhow, we started our day together at St. Catherine Laboure. The girls arrived just before the ceremony began and away we went. After the ceremony and formal portraits at the church, we hopped into the waiting limo for the drive to Lancaster. The reception was to be held at Riverdale Manor, one of our favorite venues. When the bridal party arrived, we had just enough light left in the day to do some portraits outside and then in the farmhouse before the party really began. But once it did, it certainly didn’t stop, thanks to one of our favorite DJs, DJ Freez. We had SUCH a great time capturing the reception that it was almost like we weren’t working.

Holly and Chris – Thank you for having us. We really did have a FANTASTIC time.
